Is it Safe to Order Online During COVID-19?

Some shoppers have raised questions about the safety of receiving their online orders. Experts are finding that the virus can live on surfaces from three hours to up to three days, depending on the material.

That said, it’s unlikely that COVID-19 would survive on your purchased items from the time they were packed to the time you received your package (especially with the slowdown in the delivery system). And shipping conditions make a tough environment for COVID-19 as well, so it’s not likely you’ll be exposed via the package itself, either.

According to the CDC, “There is likely very low risk of spread from products or packaging that are shipped over a period of days or weeks at ambient temperatures.” The CDC’s statement refers to packages that have been in shipment for at least several days and did not come into contact with any sources of contamination after packaging.

The World Health Organization addresses the concern as well, by saying that it is safe to receive packages from locations with reported COVID-19 cases. From their website: “The likelihood of an infected person contaminating commercial goods is low and the risk of catching the virus that causes COVID-19 from a package that has been moved, travelled, and exposed to different conditions and temperature is also low.”

What are the current shipping times?

We try our best to get the order to you as soon as possible.  

Shipping time may occasionally be extended due to restrictions that have been put in place to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Fulfillment times have been extended 1 to 5 days because of staffing challenges such as employees calling in sick and implementation of social distancing requirements in warehouses which may slow efficiency.

Transportation has been slowed due to lack of trucks and aircraft.   As many local stores are not open more individuals have been making purchases on-line increasing the total volume of cargo.  There are times that packages may have to wait for the availability of transportation.

Shipments from our US warehouses have been taking 13 – 20 days though recently we have had some customers that received their package in 5 days.  These orders normally are sent by the United States Postal Service though at times UPS or FedEx may be used.

Shipments from our overseas warehouses may take considerably longer.  Delivery times have been averaging around 30 days.  There are fewer aircraft flying due to restrictions put in place by various governments.  There have been times that cargo has had to wait a week to be loaded on an available aircraft.  These delays have been reduced in the past month.

Shipments from overseas must be inspected by the Customs Service.  This may be completed in one day or may take a week depending on their workload and work restrictions such as social distancing.  Once Customs are complete your package will be turned over to the USPS.  When the USPS scans your package, you will be getting emails from USPS with the updated status and estimated delivery times.

Shipping time may be delayed or changed during the COVID-19 outbreak. We will try our best to get the order to you as soon as possible.
